There are 3 types of cellulite:
- Adipose cellulite : this type of cellulite is caused by stored adipocytes that exert pressure and deform subcutaneous connective tissue, also called ‘septa’. This leads to changes in the skin’s characteristics and appearance. It may be caused by various factors such as predisposition, lifestyle and diet.
- Aqueous cellulite: this is the most visible type of cellulite. It is related to a water retention phenomenon and weak lymphatic drainage by the body. Knead and roll massages are efficient in fighting this type of cellulite, as well as good daily water intake.
- Fibrous cellulite: deeper embedded and more compact, it is the result of the hardening of collagen fibres around the adipocytes. It is painful to the touch and difficult to treat since it has been installed for a long time.

Cellulite can affect men but is more common in women, due to differences in the distribution of fat, muscle and connective tissue.
90% of women are affected by cellulite in their lifetime from the age of 20.
The ideal way to efficiently fight cellulite is to use a combination of technologies. Exposing cellulite to 940 nm LED’s will induce a process called adipocyte lysis that destroys the fat cells stored under the skin. This radiation will also induce neocollagenesis, restoring skin elasticity and making it look smoother. A mechanical massage through aspiration will stimulate the lymphatic drainage on the treated zone and stretch the fibrous walls to reduce the “orange peel” effect. It is also recommended to supplement the treatment with daily manual massages with anti-cellulite creams or oils to accelerate the lymphatic drainage process.
